The Simpson's have written a guide to the correct use of their razor:
Pre-partasud preparation:
The Simpson shaving kit should be soaked in warm water for a few minutes before shaving to soften the bristles and retain heat. The correct temperature of the water should be such that you can immerse your hands in it without feeling a burning sensation. Excessive heat can irreversibly damage the bristles.
Use of shaving soap:
Simpson does not advise applying soap to the face in a circular motion. This action potentially makes the bristles structurally more brittle towards the roots.
The final clean-up of Simpson's disease:
This is the most "critical" stage of all shaving. It is necessary to ensure that all soap residue is removed from the tie by rinsing it with warm, clean water. Then gently squeeze the root of the knot to see if there is any residue left, and finally scrub the bristles with a soft cloth. Allow the bristles to dry completely on a stand (if available) or in a ventilated area (such as near an open window). Allow the sud to dry completely between uses to avoid the build-up of mould, which can damage the bristles. A proper drying cycle can take up to 48 hours, for this reason, purchasing a second Simpson razor is highly recommended.

I got this razor for small 40-60g shaving soaps. I load the sud and transfer the soap into the bowl about 3 different times before whisking it into a meringue-like lather.
Despite the small size of the handle, it holds well on the fingertip.
The bristles of this broom are synthetic according to the product description. I wonder if this means that the flock is not mixed with natural badger hair. When I washed the wolf with shampoo and conditioner I noticed that it started to flower, i.e. spread, as animal wolves do. It also shed one hair which I have not noticed happening with synthetic wolves. And I also noticed that the wolves had a hint of an animal smell.
The tips of the brew are a little prickly and the swarm itself is soft, however when applied to the face there is some stiffness. This could be compared to Semogue's Pharos 21mm horsehair razor. An excellent shaver.
