Trafalgar is named after the great naval battle in European history: the Battle of Trafalgar. This famous naval confrontation took place off the Trafalgar Peninsula on the south coast of Spain on 21 October 1805 - the very year William Francis Truefitt set up his business (Truefitt & Hill). The battle was fought by a British fleet of 27 ships led by Admiral Horatio Nelson. They were opposed by a larger combined French and Spanish fleet. Nelson's bold battle strategy ensured that all 20 French and Spanish ships were destroyed or captured without the loss of a single British ship.

The overwhelming British victory destroyed Napoleon's plan to invade England and helped ensure British naval supremacy for years to come. However, the British suffered the loss of nearly 1,500 men, among them a British hero, Admiral Nelson, who was mortally wounded. The scent of Trafalgar is captivating, spicy, freshly woody, both bold and sophisticated.
